The Green Bees are Back Buzzing – The Brentford Buzz

The Green Bees are Back Buzzing – The Brentford Buzz

Beesotted contributor, Billy Taylor, scours the internet to dig up the latest Brentford-related gossip  from Twitter, Facebook, the Griffin Park Grapevine (GPG) and more.

That dead time between one season and the next – May to August – leaves many (not all) football fans twiddling their thumbs. But twiddle-time turns to planning-time as finally we’re at the point in the off-season where excitement for football begins to rapidly build once again with the official opening of the transfer window on June 9th, clubs unveiling new kits and football fixtures being released.

The earliest news to come out of Brentford this week was the unveiling of the new kits for the 2017/18 season – an event that is anticipated every year (except maybe not by the mums and dads who have to fork out £42 for a new kit every season). As always there were contrasting views among Bees fans. The newly announced sponsor LeoVegas has its logo splashed all over the new kit. How would this affect the look of the new strip? There were a few people not happy by in general, the majority seemed overwhelmed with the way Brentford will suit up for the upcoming season.

ALEXCAVELL: Home kit is pretty good and ticks all the boxes, especially given that there are stripes on the back. As others have said, a minor complaint that the sponsor is a bit high up.

As for the away kit, I’d prefer that we stick to our usual away colours of combinations of black, yellow and navy/sky blue, and not green or royal blue as we’ve had recently (or orange as was nearly chosen a couple of years back). It gives us more of an identity than clubs that go with a different change colour every year. Having said that, the new green kit itself is alright though.

BOURNEMOUTHBEE: Have to say I love all three. I was fed up with black away shirts – green is fab.

The key event of the whole pre-season for many fans is the day the fixture lists are released. Today that very moment came and all Bees are back buzzing for the new season. First up is a summers journey to Yorkshire as Brentford are given a trip to Bramall Lane. Many fans were happy with the news and days off work have  already being planned by some.

GAZZABEE: Probably as good as it gets fixtures wise from my perspective – went to uni in Sheffield so weekender first up. Home game on my birthday albeit midweek plus all new grounds currently on Saturdays – happy days.

ISLEWORTH_BEE: Sheff Utd away, happy with that.

Cant wait to get the abuse going early in the first home game.

Fulham and QPR a week apart again at the end of the season!

FALLACY: Glad we have the Xmas home games – love a boxing day home game

The last week has also brought news on the transfer front with Brentford allowing Jack Bonham to leave on loan  – Carlisle looking like his most likely destination for the now third choice keeper.

In contrast excitement has grown with news of a player possibly staying at Griffin Park rather than leaving with Mark Devlin stating “As far as we’re concerned, Jota will be playing his football at Griffin Park next year.” Its looking like Brentford will be doing what they can to ensure that ‘King Jota’ will continue to reign at Brentford for another season. However, lets see what his agent gets up to over the next few weeks. Fingers crossed not much.

BEEZY: I think MB is going to throw a lot at it to keep him and we’re going to have a pwoper good go at it. Year 3 in a 3 year cycle.

However, if market forces mean he has to go, then at least we got the incredible encore/cameo toward the end of last season to add to the already unbelieveable memories.

I will never forget that goal, first game back against them, under the lights at GP.

NORTHLONDONBEE: Maybe we will extend Bonham’s contract by a year loan him out and see how he copes. I would guess Daniels sees himself as a likely first choice in a year or so assuming Bentley goes.

BEATPOET: Whatever it takes to get him (Jota) a full season of football!

INVIPAI: They wanted him (Bonham) before they knew which division they’d be in, I guess it would be yeah… better than bench warming anyway but would have been preferable to be at a League One team.

The last few days have rejuvenated life with all people connected with the club. Many Bees will be beginning to feel the taste of that first cold beer in Sheffield on the tip of their tongue.

Roll on August 5th and the introduction of our boys in green.

COYB!
